You know the movie’s gonna be a scary movie when they release it on a Friday the 13th, and if you really want to get scared, check out The Cabin in the Woods, a horror suspense movie, filmed in Canada, IN A CABIN! Run while you can!!!
Coming at a time when MGM is restructuring from their old business model to a new, leaner operation, The Cabin in the Woods, a $30-million dollar production, seems to have spent it’s major chunk of the budget on talent, including teaming up the King of Teen-Horror flicks Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard, (Whedon, the producer of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame, hired Cloverfield screenwriter Drew Goddard to direct it, and they co-wrote the script together)? so you know it should be a fascinating roller coaster of suspense coming from these creative heavyweights proven in the trenches of the genre.
Currently already holding a 95% positive review on Rotten Tomatoes and filmed in a fun, hip style, some have compared to Evil Dead II, but The Cabin in the Woods is no joke… it’s a gripping tale of five collage age friends out on a road trip to a really remote cabin in the boondocks, where, you guess it, they get more than they bargained for. Like, for starters, becoming the sacrificial "innocents" of a sinister ritual plot, making this a movie that operates on so many levels it will blow your mind.
Chris Hemsworth (Thor), stars in this action horror flick, one which Whedon boldly claims is ?the horror movie to end all horror movies.??Critics have called The Cabin in the Woods a wildly imaginative and intensely horrific seat grabber, artfully toying and exceeding every convention of the "cabin in the woods" horror genre while at the same time raising the stakes exponentially as this close group of friends find themselves in the midst of a conspiracy both massive and horrifying!
