If you’re looking for a movie that will have you snorting popcorn outta your nose, this is the one to see.
Beginning with a childhood bonding moment between Hal and his dying father, whose deathbed advice is to go for the girls with nice breasts and good looks.
Shallow Hal spends the majority of his time unsuccessfully trying to pick up hot lookers, until he has an unexpected run-in with self-help guru Tony Robbins during an elevator breakdown. Intrigued by Hal’s shallowness, Robbins hypnotizes him into seeing the inner beauty that resides in us all, even the fat and ugly.
Hal is smitten after meeting the morbidly obese Rosemary; all he sees is her kindness and humor translated into the physical perfection of Gwyneth Paltrow. Hal’s equally shallow friend Mauricio (Jason Alexander in great form as a schmuck) can’t stand his friend’s new quest for fat and ugly girls, goes to Tony and finds the word to undo the hypnosis.
And now Hal must face an unrecognizable Rosemary and make a fateful decision.
